A few years ago I created this web site to share a few of my schooner and longliner photographs. I first began to collect boat photos in mid-1970s, soon after I bought my first fishing boat, a small wooden longliner. Through the years, I've had the opportunity to photograph boats of all kinds. My favorite season is springtime, it's when Alaska's harbors come alive with classic longliners. To me, they are like seeing old friends and I try and photograph them whenever possible. The images in the Vessel Index, span more than 40 years and were shot around Seward and Alaska's North Gulf Coast.
My other favorite photo themes are rugged landscapes, seascapes, glacial fjords, (See: Exploring Alaska's Kenai Fjords Guidebook) marine life, old architecture and fishing boats.
I live with my wife Anne and dog "Keta" in Seward, Alaska. In spring, we cast off for our homestead in Day Harbor.
