A few years ago, I posted this web site to share a few of my schooner/longliner photographs. I began collecting work boat photos in mid-1970s, shortly after buying my first fishing boat, a small wooden longliner. Through the years, I've had the opportunity to photograph work boats of all kinds. My favorite season is spring, it's when Alaska's harbors come alive with classic longliners. To me, they are like seeing old friends and I try and photograph them whenever possible. The images in the Vessel Index, span more than 45 years and were shot around Seward and Alaska's North Gulf Coast.
